At Chip Dee Academy of Music we teach
Piano & Keyboard, Guitar, Bass, Drums & Percussion, Vocals, Singing & Songwriting, Trombone, Trumpet, Woodwinds and Violin / Cello lessons.
The Chip Dee Academy of Music is all about creativity and musical expression – reinvigorate your rock band, bring harmony to your vocal group or learn to scintillate as a soloist.
Here at the Academy we pride ourselves on not only being professional musicians, but also New Jersey state certified music educators. This means we’ve all studied as much about teaching music as we have about playing it!
Our students enjoy a very relaxed, almost “lived in” atmosphere in our studio, not only because of the studio itself, but we provide a truly personal touch, with one on one consultations/progress reports on each student with their parents after every lesson. Parents are also invited to sit in on lessons at any time.
CLASSICAL, JAZZ, AND ROCK / POP, ENSEMBLE, CHAMBER MUSIC AND ACCOMPANIMENT
At Chip Dee Academy of Music we teach classical, jazz, and rock / pop piano for solo performances, ensemble use, chamber music and accompaniment.
All vocalists and songwriting students are strongly encouraged to study piano in addition to, or as their primary writing and accompanying instrument.
The Guitar is a string instrument that can be either acoustic, or electric with six steel strings when used for rock, jazz, folk, country, etc. or nylon strings when used for classical. The Bass Guitar is a stringed instrument played primarily with the fingers or thumb, by plucking, slapping, popping, tapping, thumping, or picking.
The bass guitar is similar in appearance and construction to an electric guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and four strings, tuned an octave lower.
The bass guitar was originally created as a lightweight and more portable substitute for the upright string bass, but with the advent of rock ,became a distinctly unique sound all its own. At Chip Dee Academy of Music we teach all levels and styles of guitar and bass playing.
PLUCKING, SLAPPING, POPPING, TAPPING, THUMPING, PICKING
SNARE DRUM, DRUM SET AND ALL PERCUSSION STUDIES
You will learn to play all styles, starting with basic Rockrhythms and playing along with your favorite tunes well as reading music and developing technique with rudiments.
As you become more advanced, we will get into Jazz, which is the most demanding of all genres on the instrument.
We encourage all of our vocal students to learn to accompany themselves and eventually write their own material!
VOCAL COACHING, TRAINING, SONG PRESENTATION, MUSIC THEORY, AND RECORDING
ARRANGING SONGS LYRICALLY, MUSICALLY, AND HARMONICALLY
We can supplement your school instruction, work to improve your improvising, or provide you with lessons exclusively outside of school programming.
TRUMPET, TROMBONE, SAXOPHONE, CLARINET, FLUTE
VIOLIN, VIOLA, AND CELLO
There are no “frets” such as a guitar has and requires the development of a very precise “ear”.
Covid Update: We're Open! And taking all the necessary steps to keep you safe.
Dear Students, Parents,
First of all, on behalf of our teachers and myself I'd like to thank those of you who have stayed with us during this trying time, and have continued your music studies. Words cannot express our gratitude!! Because of your support ,we've been able to survive in this pandemic climate and it looks like we're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
As per Gov. Murphys reopening policy, we are following the scheduled openings of hair salons and barber shops because of the fact that these closely mimic our teaching model, which as you know, is one on one. So we're planning on opening starting Tuesday, June 23rd, with some conditions;
1) to start, for myself,I am scheduling students for Wednesdays and Thursdays, and possibly Saturdays only, pretty much the whole day, starting at 10 or 10:30 am. There will be 10-15 minutes between lessons in order to allow people to come and go with minimum contact with others! If you study with someone else, we'd like to do different days to avoid too many people in the studio at the same time.
2), You and/or your child will be required to wear a mask, NO EXCEPTIONS!! Students must also wash their hands before taking their lessons.
3)We will of course also wear masks, we will be wiping down instruments after each lesson, as well as door handles, etc. daily. The studio was completely professionally cleaned when we closed the studio and has not been used since except for myself stopping by once weekly.
4) Due to the fact that some students have health issues and some parents are not yet comfortable with returning to the studio, we will continue to offer virtual lessons on Zoom for those who choose to do so.
5) we usually have a concert this time of year, but for obvious reasons we've postponed this until further notice.
6) for those of you who've discontinued lessons during this pandemic, we'd love to have you back. Please contact us regarding your plans. We are much more flexible at this point! If we don't hear from you we will assume you no longer wish to have lessons and you will be terminated from our student roster.
7) We will close the studio immediately if a student or staff member is affected by the virus. Please feel free to contact me or any of our teachers with any questions or concerns. We want to have a safe and healthy reopening and be able to fill the studio with music once again!
Thank you again for your support,
