Chip Degaard, Music Director and Instructor at the Chip Dee Academy of Music in Hasbrouck Heights New Jersey, is teaming up with Chip Fabrizi of PPI Recording, located in Soho, New York City to offer a course in basic recording techniques beginning on March 12th at the Chip Dee Academy of Music Studios located at 195 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights New Jersey. Each class is 2 hours. The total course is 8 hours over 4 weeks.

“We will be starting from scratch. No previous experience is necessary. The classes will cover microphone technology, how to record vocals, how to mic drums and other instruments. We will be recording tracks and mixing using ProTools software. We will also explore plug ins and basic Midi. We will master in Peak Pro software. Students will get have hands on experiences. Learn in a a professional working recording studio and environment with professional engineers and and producers. Classes will be taught by a professional engineer with over 20 years of experiences and a degree in Music. Classes will be held weekly with a maximum 6 students per class. We expect classes to fill up early and we advise people to call to sign up so they aren’t shut out, ” says Chip Degaard.

About Chip DeGaard
Chip Degaard was born and raised in Chicago Il.,. He received his formal education in drums and piano in Chicago,and received a BM.ed in music at Drury University in Springfield, Mo. Chip’s credits as a jazz drummer includes stints with the Warren Covington Big Band,and also backing up artists such as Bill Watrous,and opening for the Stan Kenton ,and Maynard Ferguson Orchestras.As a pianist,/vocalist, Chip has opened for such notable and varied performers such as, Elvis Costello, Little Richard, and Gene Chandler. Chip has played with and/ or backed up; Tommy Roe, Little Anthony, Sam the Sham, Drifters, Coasters , Platters, Lou Christie, the Tokens, Capris, and many more. As a composer/lyricist,Chip has had several songs recorded by other artists,as well as his own versions. He is also a gifted arranger ,comfortable in all styles . It was while living in New York that Chip became interested in how music affects human behavior.This drew him to working with music in a psychiatric setting which ultimately led to the creation of “Songs from the Island.” Chip currently can be seen in the New York area as well as around the country as keyboard player/vocalist with “Kenny Vance and the Planotones”, as well as with his own groups, “Good Rockin Tonite”, and “The Chip Dee Band”.
